2016 Audi R8, V10 (540 hp) is a refreshing car for all those who have appreciated R8 models. The launch of the 2015 R8 made many people request for an updated version in 2016. Now, the automaker seems to have listened to its patrons and at the Geneva Motor Show, it will reveal the 2016 R8.
Exterior and Interior
The car features very few exterior modifications. Perhaps the automaker wants to play safe with this model and bank upon the features that have already garnered much appreciation among the masses. 2016 R8 is 174in. in length and 76.4in. wide while its height is 48.8in. and its wheelbase is 104.3in. The front has the splendid hexagonal grille, which is covered with an intricate mesh. The air ducts on either side of the grille have planks dividing it vertically. The headlamps no longer look curvy and have straight dimensions. The rear gets trapezoidal tailpipes and the contrast color band over the air intake is absent. The weight of 2016 R8 is 3428lbs., which is 110lbs, lighter than the previous one.
If you are familiar with the interior of the 2015 R8, you will be amazed to spot the changes here. The seats look more inviting because of their superior headrest and better posture that ensure easier seating. There is 12.3-inch screen that provides host of details about the vehicle. It is possible to customize the display.
Engine and Mileage
Audi leaves behind the V-8 engine option, and with this model, presents the V-10 powertrain. There are two engines available, the Basic V-10 and V-10 Plus. The basic engine delivers 540hp with 398lb-ft of torque while the Plus version goes a step higher and promises 610 hp with 413lb-ft of torque. Again, the carmaker brings in another change in the transmission. There is no 6-speed manual. It is replaced by 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with Audi’s revolutionary S tronic technology, which combines the ease of manual transmission and promptness of the automatic one. It powers all the wheels. R8 with V-10 basic engines reach the speed of 62 mph in only 3.5 seconds and enjoy the maximum speed of 201 mph. For the V-10 Plus model, the time taken to touch 62 mph shrinks to 3.2 seconds and the top speed attained is 205mph.
Price and Release Data
Pricing for the US market has not yet been revealed. However, going by the price in Euros it should cost around $184,289. It will be released in the fall of 2015.
On the outside, the car has the familiar look, which makes it a reliable while on the inside it has upgrades, which make it irresistible. The 2016 Audi R8, V10 (540 hp) is of course worth a deep look.
